60 per cent turnout in 2nd phase, re-polling in six booths
Bangalore, Apr 26: Barring minor incidents of skirmishes and disruption to polling process in about seven booths, about 60 per cent of an estimated 1.59 crore voters sealed the electoral fate of 830 candidates in the second and final phase of election held in 13 Lok Sabha and 104 assembly constituencies in Karnataka today.

final phase of election held in 13 Lok Sabha and 104 assembly
constituencies in Karnataka today.

Re-poll is likely to be ordered on april 28 in six polling
stations of Chamarajanagar Lok Sabha constituency where
unidentifed persons set afire EVMs in one booth and damaged in
five others, state chief electoral officer Abhijit Dasgupta
told reporters here.
He said adjourned polling will also be held in Bankapura polling booth in Belgaum district where one of the EVMs failed to function after sometime, he said.
With this the process of election which puts to test the fortunes of 1,707 candidates in 28 Lok Sabha and 224 assembly constituencies, held simultaneously in Karnataka, was complete and counting of votes will be taken up on May 13.
About 62.70 per cent of an estimated 2.26 crore eligible voters had exercised their franchise in the first phase held on April 20 in 15 Lok Sabha and 120 assembly constituencies, which was marred by stray incidents of violence, prompting the election commission to order repoll in 71 polling booths.
