Ericsson India launches `Mobitex` wireless tech for networks
New Delhi, Nov 04: Ericsson India today announced the launch of `Mobitex`, its new wireless technology, and said it is talking to operators who provide public mobile radio trunking, local area network systems and data communications services, for this.

"In new growth markets such as India, Ericsson sees huge
potential for this technology as it offers a host of
established applications catering to the mission critical data
communication needs of today's professionals," Tomas
Lundkvist, senior director (new sales and marketing, 'Mobitex'),
Ericsson, told reporters at a press conference here.
"Mobitex is a narrowband, wireless technology for dedicated packet data network and offers solutions and services on robust wireless handheld devises." For mobile professionals, banking and retail operations, field sales and service organisations, energy distribution companies, transport companies, 'Mobitex' could provide the competitive edge, making information instantly available in any location, he said.
"We are focusing on operators who provide public mobile radio trunking, landline systems and data communications. We have got a positive response from those entities... so we are moving ahead," he added. Bureau Report
