Kolkata, Nov 17: With a view to realising maximum advantage, one of the biggest spenders on information technology in India and FMCG major Hindustan Lever is all set to introduce daily planning and operating cycle to provide ready stocks to consumers and also streamline its supply chain management.
"Days are not far away when the entire Rs 10,000 crore business would be operated on daily planning and operating cycle to realise the maximum benefit out of it," HLL chairman M S Banga said while addressing Infocom 2003 here.
Banga said the system would help the company get to know about each day's sales from all the distributors the next day and on that basis it will be in a position to order for raw material the same day. "Right now we are not doing this, but we will start soon as we have the system." Banga said the company had already linked all its distributors with the system and every morning it could know about previous day's sales to one million retailers.
R Banga said they were steadily going to do that to ensure their distributors could look into any type of information relevant to them. "Basically, it would be a seamless information both ways."
