Lucknow, Jan 02: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati today ruled out mid-term assembly elections in the state saying that her government was firmly in saddle and would complete its term.

Rejecting the claims of Samajwadi Party that her BSP-BJP coalition government has been reduced to minority, following withdrawal of support by some BJP MLAs, Mayawati said for the last three months, SP has been channelising its energies for toppling her government to no avail. After failing in its efforts to woo the legislators to topple the government, SP has now launched a propaganda that mid term elections are on the anvil, she said in an official statement here.

Pointing out that no MLA was interested in facing fresh elections, she accused the SP of creating confusion to unnerve the legislators and get them to join it in pulling down her government. The BSP-BJP coalition, she said, was formed with the aim of providing a stable government and avoiding another round of elections in the state which is in the midst of a grave financial crunch.
