NY, Sept 13: Singer-songwriter Jewel has canceled much of her fall U.S. tour due to the unexpected death of touring bassist Terome "T-Bone" Hannon, though plans are in the works for a handful of acoustic shows. The original month-long outing had been scheduled to kick off Sept. 19 in North Charleston, S.C. But Hannon's death prompted cancellation of dates that were to feature Jewel's full band, including the opening show and stops in Albany, N.Y., Indianapolis, Chicago, Minneapolis and Upper Darby, Pa.
"T-Bone was a phenomenal player and we all loved him," Jewel said in a statement. "We are all just in shock and hurt."
Tour organizers said details would be announced later for a round of acoustic shows in the coming weeks. Fans holding tickets to the canceled performances can obtain refunds at point of purchase.

Jewel was to be touring in support of her latest Atlantic album, "0304," which is No. 87 in its 14th week on The Billboard 200. It has sold 550,000 copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan.
