Isamabad, Mar 06: Pakistan's Army took formal possession of a homemade nuclear-capable Hatf-IV missile, known as a Shaheen, today, state media reported.
The Shaheen, a medium-range ballistic missile developed by Pakistan's National Engineering and Scientific Commission, was inducted into the army in a formal ceremony presided over by President Pervez Musharraf at the National Defence Complex.
General Musharraf, also the country's Army Chief, accepted the missile on the army's behalf during "an impressive ceremony" at the defence facility in Islamabad, the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) reported. He said that while Pakistan seeks peace it will not compromise its "minimum defence needs."
"Pakistan does not threaten anyone nor accept threats from anyone," APP quoted him as saying.

"Pakistan does not have global ambitions but is compelled to go nuclear due to belligerence in its neighbourhood."
