San Jose, California, Feb 15: Top seeds Andy Roddick and Andre Agassi continued their march toward an anticipated final when they both posted impressive victories in the quarter-finals of the San Jose Open Friday.
Roddick advanced to the semi-finals with a 6-3 7-6 victory over Sweden's Joachim Johansson, while Agassi again had another tussle before overcoming compatriot Jan-Michael Gambill 7-6 7-5.
It is the first time since 1995 that four Americans have reached the semi-finals.
Roddick will play wild-card entry Robert Kendrick, who upended Frenchman Cyril Saulnier 7-6 4-6 6-3. Agassi faces third seed Mardy Fish, who beat Lee Hyung-Taik of South Korea 6-2 6-3.
In beating Gambill for the 11th time in 13 matches, the 33-year-old Agassi found himself pressed to the wall.

Five-times champion Agassi said: ''It was good toe to toe tennis but tougher than I would have liked.

''He played a smart match, but he played three bad shots in the last game and that cost him the match.''
