Sofia, Bulgaria, Jan 31: Fresh from his back to back triumph at the Corus grandmasters chess tournament at Wijk Aan Zee, Indian chess star Viswanathan Anand will have a chance to settle scores with Bulgaria's Veselin Topalov when they meet in a Blitz exhibition game here on Sunday. At Corus, Topalov inflicted on Anand his only defeat of the tournament in years. Topalov, however, finished joint fourth in the tournament in Holland.

Each of the two games-both playing with white once-here in this Bulgarian capital city will be in the Blitz form of 10 minutes each with no incremental time for moves.

Anand and Topalov, who first played against each other in 1993, have met 48 times in their career. Anand has an edge over his Bulgarian rival having won 13 of those clashes, while losing nine. The remaining 26 games between the two have ended in draws.

Of the 48 games, 23 of them have been in the Sicilian defence with many of them in the Najdorf variation.

Twenty seven of the clashes have come in the classical form with both players winning seven times each and having drawn 13 times. In blind, Anand has won two, lost one and drawn three times. In rapid form, Anand has a clear advantage with four wins and one loss and nine draws in 14 games.
