A Swedish television journalist was killed early Tuesday in a robbery in northern Afghanistan’s Taloqan area, colleagues and the Northern Alliance's foreign ministry said. Colleagues identified him as Olaf Stromberg, of Sweden's TV4, and said he was shot during a break-in at the house where he was staying. He was the eighth journalist to die in Afghanistan since the start of the U.S.-led military campaign on Oct. 7.

Joris Wauman of the European Broadcasting Union, with whom Swedish TV was working, said gunmen broke into the house during the night, and Stromberg was shot.
Colleagues rushed him to the hospital, but he died a short time later, said Wauman.
Taloqan has been the base for scores of foreign journalists covering the siege of Kunduz. The city fell to the Northern Alliance late Sunday after a two-week siege. Bureau Report
