Mumbai, Jan 04: Mumbai skies opened up and Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) cruised in—ringing wedding bells for two families who will finally get to hear qabool, qabool, qabool (I accept) after a wait of nearly five years. On a wintry Friday, 160 passengers onboard PK 274, the first PIA Karachi-Mumbai-Karachi flight after two years, brought in a summer load of warmth in the Airbus 300 that landed at 1.10 pm at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Airport. Waiting for the bride from Karachi were 10 members of the Gaffor family who came from Mumbai Central.
‘‘She was engaged to my son five years back,’’ said Farida Abdul Gaffor, at the centre of the great Indian joint family melee. Her bahu-to-be is her sister’s daughter. If not for visa hurdles, the wedding would have taken place long back.
