Pondicherry, Oct 20: Sale of certain varieties of crackers for the coming Deepavali has been banned, Senior Superintendent of Police, law and order Anand Mohan, today said. In a release here he said any cracker shop, which sold these varieties of banned crackers, would be liable for action under the Explosives Act and rules.

He said bursting of crackers between after 10 pm and before 6 am has also been banned as directed by the Supreme Court. Bursting of crackers at 100 metres of silent zones like hospitals and places of worship was also prohibited.
