Patiala, Nov 15: Pop singer Daler Mehndi, facing charges of illegal human trafficking, today remained elusive even as Punjab Police parties carried out searches at his possible hideouts at various places in the country. Claiming that the Punjabi singer was left with "limited options", Patiala SSP A S Rai said that search parties sent yesterday to several places were likely to return and report here within a couple of days. "Either Daler should surrender before the magistrate or appear before police," he added. The beleagured singer had failed to get any reprieve from courts here, at Delhi and Chandigarh as his anticipatory bail pleas were rejected.

The case against Daler was registered by Patiala police on a complaint of one Bakshish Singh who alleged that he was not taken abroad in the singer's troupe even though he had paid Rs 12 lakhs for it.
Daler's brother Shamsher, who is currently in judicial custody, Tejinder Singh alias Laddi, Harchand Singh and Surinder Singh were the other accused in the case.
