Dhaka, Oct 04: Bangladesh will send a 3,000-strong contingent to strife-torn Liberia as part of the United Nations' peacekeeping operations there. "Bangladesh has agreed to send troops to Liberia for peace keeping under the UN umbrella," a Foreign Office statement said after Dhaka was formally requested by the UN to send its personnel. "A contingent of 3,000 troops will leave for Liberia soon," the statement said. Besides, around 800 troops are expected to be deployed in Liberia from Sierra Leone, where 2,300 Bangladeshi personnel are engaged in peacekeeping operations. Bureau Report
