7 militans killed in J&K
Jammu, Sept 03: Even as the gunbattle with Lashkar-e-Toiba militants in the forests of Kathua continued for the second day, security forces killed seven militants and lost three of their men in separate incidents in Jammu and Kashmir today.

One soldier was killed and four others injured as the operation to flush out the LeT militants, believed to be seven in number, holed in Ghati area of Kathua, 70 kms from here, continued into the second evening today. A village defence committee member and two ultras were also wounded, they said.
With night approaching, the operation is likely to get more difficult although the group is believed to now be restricted to a small area, security sources said adding that the militants were using heavy weapons like grenade launchers.
Reinforcements from CRPF and Army were called late last evening. The operation was suspended late in the night due to darkness and resumed at day-break.
Two terrorists were killed in Banihal area of Jammu region the Army said adding that one AK rifle and one pistol was recovered from the slain militants.
Four LeT militants were killed and three securitymen injured in separate encounters with security forces in Anantnag, Kupwara and Baramulla districts of Kashmir today, an official spokesman said in Srinagar.
Two LeT militants including a self-styled battalion commander of the outfit Mushtaq Ahmed Khan alias Haroon of Chaklipora-Chitergul area of Anantnag were killed at Hamdan Bahak-Achabal in Anantnag district.
Another militant of the same outfit was killed when security forces returned fire after they were attacked by militants at Hadigam-Kulgam. A civilian was also injured in the exchange of fire.
A Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir resident Abu Abid alias Jaffa of LeT outfit was killed in a gunbattle that broke out at Check-i-Nutnoosa in frontier district of Kupwara. One AK rifle, its two magazines, 28 rounds and two hand grenades were recovered from the slain militant.
He said three security jawans were injured in an encounter with militant police today recovered a mutilated body of an unidentified militant from the debris of the Hotel Greenway, the scene of night-long encounter between the holed up militants and security forces last week, the spokesman said.
