New Delhi, July 20: Defence minister George Fernandes, who appeared today before the Venkataswami Commission regarding the past defence deals, said "I have explained everything I was asked" during the questioning.
Fernandes was questioned by the Commission's Counsel Dyan Krishnan on various past defence transactions, appearing in the Tehelka expose on alleged corruption in defence deals.
Emerging from nearly 40 minutes of in-camera cross-examination, Fernandes, assisted by his senior advocate Fali Narihman, told a news agency that he was not asked by the Commission to appear again in the matter. When asked about the names of the deals which came up for the cross-examination, Fernandes parried the question saying "Whatever happened in in-camera cannot be spoken outside."
There were nearly 14 past defence deals, mentioned by various persons during the conversation in the Tehelka tapes, including sensitive T-90 tanks, Barak missiles and Carsnapol rocket launcher.
