Hyderabad, July 08: A farmer couple in a remote village in Karimnagar district of Andhra Pradesh has sought help of the Amnesty International (AI) in rescue of their minor daughter from the clutches of the banned people's war group (PWG).
After failing in their efforts to free their 15-year-old daughter Padma from the naxals, the couple -- G Mallaiah and Mallakka hailing from Katukapalli village of Kataram Mandal -- sent an e-mail and sought the help of AI a fortnight ago.
Confirming the e-mail to AI, District Superintendent of Police R S Praveen told a news agency by telephone that the couple in their complaint said their daughter was whisked away last year by the naxalites without their consent and efforts to meet her went in vain.
The couple charged the naxalites with "forcibly recruiting" the minor girl, while PWG contends that the girl joined the movement "on her own wish".

In the e-mail, the couple said hundreds of parents in the region were undergoing similar agony after their children were forcibly taken away by PWG. The couple sought the AI to intervene and ensure that Padma and other youngsters return to their home unharmed.
The SP said, “About 30 minors of the age group of 10 to 15 years were involved in underground activities in the district.
