HC notice to CBI on Perumalsamy`s bail plea
New Delhi, June 23: The Delhi High Court today issued notice to CBI on a bail plea of R Perumalsamy, personal assistant of former Union Minister of State for finance Gingee Ramachandran, accused in a `cash for transfer` scam along with suspended IRS officer Anurag Vardhan.
Seeking bail of Perumalsamy, his counsel submitted that his seven-and-half month pregnant wife has been admitted in the hospital due to some complications since June 20.
The court declined to consider his plea for interim bail
after CBI counsel R K Dutt told the court that a connected
matter pertaining to Vardhan was listed for hearing on July 2.
Parumalsamy was arrested by the CBI for allegedly
accepting a bribe of Rs four lakh from Vardhan to get him a
choice transfer to Mumbai.
Perumalsamy and Vardhan are in judicial custody along
with the Chennai-based Chartered Accountant a Krishnamoorthy,
who allegedly arranged the meeting between the two.
The fourth accused S Padnanabhan, whose service has been
terminated from IIT Delhi, where he was a project associate,
has been released on bail.
