Militants attack patrol in J&K, 2 jawans killed, 11 injured
Jammu, May 20: Two jawans were killed and 11 others, including 5 jawans injured when militants attacked a security force vehicles, an army search patrol party and police by opening indiscriminate firing in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir since last night, official sources said.
When a security force vehicle was passing through militants threw a hand grenade and opened firing on the vehicle indisciminately in the area last evening, killing driver of the vehicle on the spot and injured 9 others.
Troops fired back and militants escaped from the spot, they said adding that a major search operation was on in the area to track down militants responsible for the act.
The killed driver has been identified as Havaldar Ram Krishen and injured jawans included Havaldar Harpal Singh, Havaldar Dev Anand, Naik Rundhir Singh, and Naik Dharamvir Singh, they said.
Besides five other gujjars were also injured and all of them have been hospitalised, they said.
One jawan identified as Naik Parsoo Ramgurugu was killed when militants opened fire on the search party in Sagrawat forest area last night , they said adding that operation was on.
Militants also attack a police party in the interior forest area of Rajouri early today, in which one cop was injured, they said, they said adding a operation have been launched in the area to track down militants.
An unidentified militant hurled a grenade on vehicle of commanding officer in Bhudal area of Rajouri district today, they said adding one jawan was injured in the attack.
