Agartala, Feb 29: The BJP will publish ''chargesheets'' against the Congress and Left parties ruled states in the North-Eastern region to expose their ''misrule, misuse of Central funds and failure''. Addressing a press conference here today, BJP's North-East region observer V Satish said the Congress and the Left parties had ''misutilised'' crores of central funds and ''the people of their region are suffering due to their misrule''.
During the past five years, the NDA government in the Centre has released over Rs 44,000 crores for the eight North-Eastern states, including Sikkim, through the North Eastern Council (NEC), non-lapsable pool of resources and centrally sponsored schemes, he said.
The NDA government's peace initiatives is all set to change the face of the most backward most region as a large number of militants had either surrendered or were going to be part of the national mainstream, he said, adding that ''there is no law and order in Manipur and the other Congress and Left parties-ruled states”.
Satish said in the coming LS polls, the BJP and its allies -- Mizo National Front (MNF), Nagaland's People's Front, Indigenous Nationalist Party of Tripura (INPT) and P A Sangma's North East Forum -- would contest most of the 25 Lok Sabha seats in the eight NE states.
The BJP leader also said peace, development and good governance would be the main issues in the coming polls in the region and added that the Congress would be ''marginalised'' in the crucial elections.
Satish has held several meetings here with leaders of the BJP and other NDA allies to finalise poll strategies. Bureau Report
