Lucknow, Dec 06: Various Muslim organisations held separate protest dharnas before the Uttar Pradesh Assembly building here today to observe the 11th anniversary of the demolition of the Babri mosque as the "day of national shame." Raising slogans against the "fascist forces" responsible for the demolition of the masjid in Ayodhya in 1992, the protestors including the activists of All India Muslim Forum, Muslim Majlis, Muslim League and the minority cell of the National Loktantrik Congress demanded immediate action against those responsible for the reprehensible act.

Speaking on the occasion, president of the Muslim forum, M K Sherwani regretted that even after a decade, the accused in the demolition case had not been brought to the book.

"The picture has changed drastically over the years and today the so called secularists who had championed the cause of Babri mosque were busy shielding those accused of bringing down the Masjid," he said.
The president of the Muslim Majlis, UP, Khalid Sabir demanded reconstruction of the 400-year-old historical mosque at its original site in Ayodhya.

The state secretary of the Muslim League, dr. Matin asked the government to take an undertaking from those involved in the case that they will honour the court verdict.
