NHRC seeks Delhi govt report on DJB plant deaths
New Delhi, June 30: Taking serious note of the death of five persons after inhaling some poisonous fumes at a Delhi Jal Board`s sewage treatment plant, the National Human Rights Commission today sought a report from the Delhi government and the DJB on the incident within two weeks.

Commission today sought a report from the Delhi government and the DJB on the incident within two weeks.
The commission has issued notices to the chief secretary
and the chief executive officer of DJB calling for a report on
the incident, NHRC sources said.
The commission has also asked the authorities to inform whether the guidelines formulated by it for safety code for operation and maintenance of sewage system were being followed by the DJB, the sources said.
Five employees, including a senior engineer of a French company engaged for maintenance of an Indo-French sewage treatment plant at the Rithala plant, died after inhaling the poisonous gases last week.
The commission has also asked the authorities to inform whether the guidelines formulated by it for safety code for operation and maintenance of sewage system were being followed by the DJB, the sources said.
