London, Mar 22: A British former model accepted a "substantial" libel payment from the Mail on Sunday newspaper on Friday over a story blaming her for the break-up of Rolling Stone Mick Jagger's relationship with Jerry Hall. Emma Woollard lodged her claim at London's High Court over the article titled "Stone Me! Look who's telling his daughter's boyfriend that he's too old for her at 44 -- Mick the old strolling bone himself!"
Woollard's lawyer Rachel Atkins said the allegation in the article blaming her for the split was based on the paper's misreading of an earlier article printed in 1988. She said Woollard, a well known British model in the 1980s, was concerned the article would be understood to mean that she had a relationship with Jagger -- although she never had.
Atkins said the paper had published an apology and offered an undisclosed but substantial compensation offer to her client on the basis that she agreed to drop her action. Bureau Report
