Patna, May 18: Noted neuro-surgeon of Bihar Dr Ramesh Chandra was kidnapped by unidentified criminals from Mithapur locality of the state capital late last night, police said. Chandra was abducted when he was returning to his Ashiana Nagar residence after attending a dinner hosted by former state IMA president Ajay Kumar for neuro-surgeons from eight states attending a conference in the city.

Kumar said that Chandra left for home at around 10.45 pm.

His family received a phone call from the abductors this morning who said the doctor's car was lying at Mithapur agriculture farm and that he (Chandra) would talk to them in the evening.
Director General of Police D P Ojha told reporters that the gang involved in kidnapping has been identified and raids were on to secure the safe release of Chandra.

An IMA delegation met him to secure safe release of the doctor.

Meanwhile, the conference and the workshop of the neuro-surgeons has been postponed in view of the kidnapping, Kumar said.
