Kolkata, Apr 05: CESC’s 14.1 lakh domestic customers are in for a pleasant surprise. They will get a free 20 gm Pepsodent toothpaste pack with their electric bills for the March 2004 account month. This is courtesy HLL’s mega sampling exercise for its 20 gm Pepsodent ‘New White Flavour Toothpaste’ in Kolkata using CESC’s media services.
The HLL sampling exercise is aimed at popularising Pepsodent toothpaste in the city. CESC has just started couriering the bills for the March account month. This is, however, a one-time offer only from HLL. According to CESC’s DGM (corporate development), Mr Rishen Mukherjee, “HLL plans to leverage CESC’s reach, its customer database and dedicated courier service to target Pepsodent toothpaste at a whopping 14 lakh domestic households serviced by the RPG power utility at a single stroke”.
The HLL campaign in Kolkata will be handled by noted media buying agency, MindShare Fulcrum. Levers will pay CESC media service charges.
CESC declined to divulge the commercials.
But nearly 3000 CESC domestic users living in 83 multi-storeyed building complexes could miss out on the Pepsodent free pack offer as they don’t figure in CESC’s customer database. CESC is looking at ways to correct this problem.
In the coming months, CESC’s domestic consumers will receive more product samplings by some of the country’s biggest brands along with their monthly bills.
