Pondicherry, Oct 16: Walkouts marred the proceedings of the Pondicherry assembly session which commenced its two day brief sitting today, finally resulting in the session being adjourned for the day, without discussing any issue. On the resumption of the assembly working after 30 minutes, members belonging to AIADMK and BJP staged a walkout protesting the refusal of the Speaker D Ramachandran to give permission for discussing the issues relating to wage revision of AFT mill workers and fixing of cane price. Ramachandran told the members that only Cauvery water issue could be discussed in the brief session. Opposition leader R V Janakiraman insisted that other issues also be taken up for discussion in the session. Following the refusal of the speaker to take up any matter other than Cauvery water issue for discussions, AIADMK and BJP members walked out from the assembly. The speaker later adjourned the house for the day.
