Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 16: Senior Congress leader K Karunakaran today called on Kerala Governor Sikander Bakht at Raj Bhavan here. He was with the Governor for about 30 minutes and described the meeting as a 'courtesy call’. However, speculation was rife in the capital that the senior leader called on the Governor to convince him that he enjoyed the support of 23 Congress MLAs in the state. "It is just a friendly call. He was the leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha when I was a Union minister," Karunakaran told reporters outside the Raj Bhavan.
Asked whether his meeting with the Governor had any political significance in the context of dissidence in the state Congress deepening, Karunakaran's he said, "I have to catch a train to Thrissur." Bureau Report
