Defence Minister George Fernandes has said that nothing has changed on the ground since President Musharraf's speech and diplomatic efforts as the infiltration of terrorists into Kashmir continues and Musharraf has not handed over to India any person in the Indian list of 20 most wanted terrorists. Fernandes, who was appearing on Fox News-TV, said: All of us want a peaceful solution. That is why, despite having sent our troops right up to the front lines, we got into seeking diplomatic ways of resolving this problem.
To a question whether he expects a peaceful solution, he said, It has yet to come for the simple reason that the two demands India had made in the aftermath of December 13 terrorist attack on Parliament by Pakistani terrorists.
Namely, that cross-border terrorism be ended by Pakistan and, second, we had given them the names of people who are involved in serious offences - terrorist activities these people should be surrendered to India.
These two demands are yet to be fulfilled. Therefore, it is one thing to feel optimistic for the simple reason that diplomatic efforts are on, but it is another thing to see that General Musharraf delivers, Fernandes said.
