Free power not feasible, says Naidu: The Hindu
Kotgir(Nizamabad), July 18: The Chief Minister, N.Chandrababu Naidu, on Thursday made an appeal to the people, particularly the farming community, not to give credence to the Congress party`s free power campaign as it was not feasible.
Kotgir(Nizamabad), July 18: The Chief Minister, N.Chandrababu Naidu, on Thursday made an appeal to the people, particularly the farming community, not to give credence to the Congress party`s free power campaign as it was not feasible.
Mr. Chandrababu Naidu, was addressing roadside meetings at this mandal headquarters town, about 50 km from the district headquarters as part of the sensitization drive for improved sanitation in the rural areas. The Chief Minister visited Ranampalli, Suleiman Farm, Suleimannagar, Kotgir and Pothangal villages on Thursday and inspected the sanitation work and made an appeal to the public to keep their neighbourhood clean and hygienic.
He called on the family members of a boy, Sridhar, who died due to viral fever last month. The Chief Minister, moved by the plight of the family members as the victim was the only son announced financial relief of Rs. 50,000. He inspected the drainage system in the village and exhorted the people to launch a drive against mosquitoes. On his way to Kotgir, Mr. Chandrababu Naidu`s convoy stopped by the roadside. He interacted with a shepherd and enquired about the condition of the sheep. He proceeded to Suleiman Farm and walked into the agriculture fields on the roadside and spoke to the farmers. He summoned the agriculture extension officers and asked them about the soil testing methods and other details. He inspected the Mid day meal scheme at the Government High School at Kotgir.
Later addressing a meeting at the Kotgir mandal centre, Mr. Naidu made a fervent appeal to the people not to get carried away by the free power promise made by the Congress. He said when no other Congress-ruled State is supplying free power how is it possible in Andhra Pradesh.
Mr. Naidu devoted a major part of his speech to sensitize the public about the monsoon ailments. He made special mention of the viral fever sweeping across a few districts in the State. He said viral fever was the most dangerous ailment afflicting the children and resulting in death within few hours.
Responding to the plea of the former Minister and Banswada MLA, P.Srinivas Reddy, regarding the long pending demands of his constituency in which Kotgir falls, Mr Naidu said that a bridge across the Manjeera connecting Pothangal with Jukkal mandal, would be posed for NABARD funding. He said once the bridge is constructed the distance between Jukkal and Nizamabad town would be reduced by 45 km. He also ordered immediate filling up of the vacant posts of junior lecturers for Urdu medium at the Government Junior College, Kotgir.
