Rs 100 crore plan to develop horticulture in J-K
Srinagar, Oct 26: Jammu and Kashmir government is planning to spend Rs 100 crore on promotion and development of horticulture in the state during the current financial year.

planning to spend Rs 100 crore on promotion and development of
horticulture in the state during the current financial year.
"Agriculture and horticulture sectors have been placed in
the thrust areas and a sum of Rs 100 crore is being utilized
on the promotion and development of horticulture in the
state," Agriculture Minister Abdul Aziz Zargar said addressing
scientists, agriculture experts and students at agriculture
college, Wadoora-Sopore in north Kashmir yesterday
He said Rs 47 crore were being spent on expansion and development of fruit mandi at Sopore.
Zargar urged the scientists to develop internationally competent varieties of fruit.
The minister said the college had adopted nearly eight model villages where the scientists and agricultural experts had acquainted the farmers with scientific methods to increase productivity.
