New Delhi, Oct 02: From the first slide show in 1894 to the mega blockbusters of today, `cinema cinema', an exhibition of photographs and posters chronicling the growth of the Indian film industry was opened here today as part of the 33rd International Film Festival of India.
The exhibition has rare photographs from the late 19th century giving a glimpse into the origin of films in the country. Some of the static images from the slide shows presented by Parwardhan brothers in Bombay in 1894-95 are on show.
Organised by the DAVP and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the show has stills from the silent era films made by pioneers of the film industry like Sawe Dada and Dada Saheb Phalke.
Photographs from major blockbusters down the years as well as those of legends like Amitabh Bachchan and Madhubala also figure in the exhibition.
Parallel cinema also finds representation in the 'new wave cinema' section. A separate section features films that have won the national film award down the years. Stills from the various film versions of 'Devdas' are also on display.
