Band members Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Harry Styles played down the jeering received by Malik when his face was shown at their concert, despite a video that proved it happened, reported Aceshowbiz.

"It's the first we've heard of it," Tomlinson said, while Payne, 21, said "I don't think that's true, if I'm honest."

"We had a gig in Cardiff last night and it was amazing. We haven't done a gig in a while and to then come back to that," Horan, 21, added.

A commercial video of the band's "You and I" fragrance was played during an intermission at the event in Cardiff. It showed 1D's members unmasking their faces, the cheer turned to boo as Zayn appeared.

This moment was captured by one of the fans who posted the video on micro-blogging site Twitter.

Zayn, 22, left One Direction in March earlier this year to live a "normal" life.
