Siliguri, June 23: The queen of hill stations, Darjeeling, was cut off from Siliguri today by a landslide on the Hill Cart Road following torrential rain. The downpour, which started yesterday, was still continuing hampering work to remove the debris at Sonada, which falls between Darjeeling and Kurseong, district magistrate H Mohan said. Traffic on the Hill Cart Road, which connects this north Bengal town to Darjeeling, 78 km from here by road, has come to a standstill following the landslides, Mohan said. He said that wireless links were also not working and it was not possible to give an update on road clearing operations till the team, which has been sent for the purpose, returned.
