Pune, Jan 19: Tainted cricketer Abhijit Kale today said he had replied to the showcause notice of the cricket board in detail and was hoping the disciplinary committee would clear him of any wrongdoing.
Kale also appeared to be repenting his decision to go to court and clarified that he was only against the suspension slapped on him and carried no ill will against the cricket establishment.
The Maharashtra batsman said from thane that he had sent his reply to the BCCI secretary two days ago to the showcause notice, which was issued against him. He, however, did not divulge the contents of the reply.
"I have given my detailed explanation to the showcause notice that i had received from the BCCI and have mentioned everything in it. I have the confidence that the disciplinary committee will give me justice as I am innocent," he said.
Being banned from cricket was akin to a "fish out of water", he said.
"This is because since 1993 I have never missed any Ranji Trophy match. I am a cricket player and court is not my field,” Kale said.
"The reason for going to the court was to challenge the suspension and not against the BCCI or the president for whom I have lot of respect," he said adding that he had full faith that he would come out clean,” he said.
Kale was suspended by the BCCI from playing first class cricket after national selectors Kiran More and Pranab Roy alleged that he offered them Rs ten lakh each for a place in the Australia bound Indian team. Bureau Report
