Chandigarh, May 05: The Punjab government has constituted a state-level appraisal and reforms committee with chief secretary as its chairman to monitor and review the functioning of key government departments. Principal secretary finance, principal secretary planning, principal secretary information technology, secretary co-ordination and secretary science and technology would be its members, whereas secretary information and technology would be the convenor of the committee, an official release said today. The committee would work out the modalities of development strategy for modernisation of state's economy as per the police guidelines of the government, especially in relation to fiscal reforms.

The other terms of reference of the committee would be to determine the road map for implementing a strategy with the support and application of information technology and science and technology.

The committee would also be responsible for monitoring the execution of the action plan with short, medium and long-term targets with appropriate media support for generating public awareness.
