Kedrapara, Oct 06: Police rounded up 468 Congress and Orissa Gana Parishad (OGP) supporters as they staged road blockades at various traffic junctions on NH 5 (a) with a view to disrupt a meeting of the chief minister Naveen Patnaik near Chhata about 15 kms from here today.
The Congress and OGP supporters, arrested since morning, were, however, released following Patnaik's departure after addressing the meeting, official sources said.
Some people also raised anti-government slogans at the meeting attended among others by about 5000 women belonging to self help groups, they said.
Apprehending disturbance from opposition parties, particularly Congress and Orissa Gana Parishad (OGP), tight security measures had been taken at the venue of the meeting as also at other places in the district.

Kendrapara private bus operators observed a day's strike today and stopped plying their buses in protest against alleged coercion by the local administration compelling them to carry people to the meeting place.
Sources said nearly 20 women, including children suffered heat-induced sickness at the meeting place and were shifted to a nearby hospital.
Patnaik, who was accompanied by harijan and tribal welfare minister Kalindi Behera and health minister Prafulla Gharei inaugurated a godown of Orissa state civil supplies corporation, a Swarna Jayanti Yojana shop complex and a women's self help group (Mission Shakti) Mela near the venue of the meeting.
