Gopeswar, Nov 10: Thirty-seven MLAs in Uttranchal, including eight ministers, have urged chief minister N D Tiwari to appoint candidates selected by UP Public Service Commission for Uttaranchal before the creation of the hill state.
Despite a severe shortage of staff in the administrative departments in all districts, the selected candidates were not being appointed, the MLAs, belonging to different political parties including ruling Congress and opposition BJP, BSP and Uttarakhand Kranti Dal, said in separate petitions to the Chief Minister. They also asked the state government to withdraw the Special Leave Petition (SLP) from Supreme Court, filed by the then interim government challenging a high court order in the matter. Bureau Report
