Security arrangements being made for LS polls in Himachal

Apart from the 12,000 plus state security personnel being deployed
for poll duty, nine companies of the Central Para-Military Forces
(CPMF) had been allocated to Himachal. Out of these five companies
would be of the CRPF while four would be from the ITBP, which
already stand deployed in Chamba along the Jammu and Kashmir border,
he said.
The state had demanded 14 companies of CPMF but the ministry of
home affairs had allocated nine, he added.
Apart from the CPMF, 7,319 state police personnel and 6,500 home
guards would be deployed during the polls, the DGP said.
For the elections, 6,232 polling stations would be established, of which 594 have been categorised as hyper-sensitive while 1,088 are considered sensitive and the rest normal.
The hyper-sensitive polling stations would be manned by one NGO, one constable and one home guard jawan. Apart from the deployed security personnel, there would be static/mobile reserves at the district and sub-divisional head-quarters as per requirement.
