Srinagar, July 15: A local court today issued a fresh summons to Uttar Pradesh BJP chief Vinay Katiyar to appear before it on August 18 on a complaint that he had made some objectionable remarks against the holy relic in Hazratbal shrine here.
Principal district and sessions judge Hakeem Imtiyaz
issued the fresh summons to Katiyar on his present address as
he failed to appear before the court when the case was taken
up yesterday.
The fresh summons was sent by registered post today.
The complaint has been pending before the court for the last 16 months.
The court had earlier issued summons to Katiyar taking cognizance of a complaint filed by the Kashmir bar association and a joint complaint by journalist Imdad Saqi and finance minister Muzaffar Hussain Baig on March 16 last year that the accused made objectionable remarks against the holy relic kept in Hazratbal shrine.
The complaints were filed before the court after the then Srinagar district magistrate granted permission to proceed against Katiyar.
