Mumbai, Sept 22: A local court will frame charges on September 24 against six alleged members of Dawood Ibrahim gang in a case of conspiracy to kill politicians including Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani. The charges would be framed by Sessions Judge D V Marathe. The accused are being defended by lawyer Majeed Memon and the trial would be conducted by special public prosecutor Shrikant Bhatt.
The case of the prosecution is that six members of Dawood Ibrahim gang conspired to assassinate prominent political figures including L K Advani. They also planned to strike key installations in Mumbai and elsewhere.
According to police, two of these gangsters were arrested last year in a case of theft. During interrogation, they revealed their plans to kill prominent politicians and trigger explosions at important public places. Their disclosure led to the arrest of four others from Chennai and Bangalore.
The documents seized from their possession confirmed their sinister plans to create terror in the country by killing politicians, the FIR lodged on October nine last year, claimed.
The accused are Javed Khan, Akbar Hussain, Srinivas Naidu, Zakir Hussain, Mohammed Saddiq and Farooq Ghani. Bureau Report
