Togadia to distribute tridents to children in Madurai
Madurai, Oct 30: VHP leader Praveen Togadia would distribute tridents to 12 children and founder president of Bharathia Forward Bloc K A Murugan at a function here today.
Madurai, Oct 30: VHP leader Praveen Togadia would distribute tridents to 12 children and founder president of Bharathia Forward Bloc K A Murugan at a function here today.
Murugan told reporters that trident distribution "to prevent conversions and Islamic terrorism" would take place at a function organised by BJF to mark birth anniversary of freedom fighter Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar.
Local VHP leader R R Gopalji said trident distribution was not being organised on behalf of VHP which welcomed it.
Togadia would also meet some caste leaders "with view to unify Hindutva forces" during his visit here, Gopalji said.
The VHP leader would also visit the Thevar Jayanthi Memorial at Pasumpon village near Kamuthi in Ramanathapuram district and pay respects to the leader.
Meanwhile, District Collector Dr. B. Chandramohan told reporters had no reports of Togadia`s programme "but if they seek permission they will be given time."
He said all parties would be allowed to visit Pasumpon village but would have to strictly observe the conditions, including ban on travelling atop vehicles, carrying arms and crackers, or speakers and warned that any breach of law and order would be dealt with severely.
