Ahmedabad, June 09: Gujarat Police have seized in Mumbai several assets and properties, including a flat, of Zaheer Rana, accused in a multi-crore marketing racket, officials said here today "A flat worth Rs 55 lakhs near posh Lokhandwala area of Mumbai is one of the major assets identified during investigation", DIG CID (Crime) Kuldip Sharma said.

Sharma said this was one of the several properties that he had purchased by allegedly duping people of their money.

Earlier this week, Rana was taken to Mumbai on a transit warrant by a team of state police following specific information about his properties and assets in the city.

The official said Rana's transit warrant expired two days ago and he was produced before a magistrate and sent to judicial custody yesterday.

Rana allegedly duped lakhs of people in several states by floating various schemes like the 'recharge-for-free' scheme launched in Ahmedabad, duping people of crores of rupees through just one such scheme.

Rana was arrested by CID (Crime) officials on May 25 following a police complaint.
