New Delhi, July 11: After remaining silent over the issue of continued public accusations between two constituents of the Hurriyat Conference, the amalgam chairman Abdul Gani Bhat today sought to downplay the growing differences saying he was concerned "about more important issues" and that the Hurriyat would not break.
The infighting started in the amalgam after fire-brand Jamaat-e-Islami leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani refused to attend the Hurriyat executive meetings till People's Conference was thrown out of the conglomerate for alleged participation in the assembly elections through proxy candidates.
Peoples' Conference recently hit back at Geelani accusing him of being the "Centre's agent" and a "nightmare for Kashmiris." However, Bhat seemed to be unperturbed by these developments and termed these as a "minor issue."
"I am more concerned about more important issues than the minor issues which have all along been there since the inception of Hurriyat," Bhat said. The Hurriyat chairman, who had been maintaining a studied silence for the past two weeks when Geelani started accusing the peoples' conference, said, "Hurriyat will not break come whatsoever."
