Bangalore, Feb 25: Karnataka chief minister S M Krishna today flayed the Maharashtra government's efforts to rake up the decades-old boundary row with the state. Addressing a senior police officers annual conference here, Krishna severely criticised Maharashtra for reopening an "outdated and already-settled issue".
In this regard, he asked intelligence agencies and police to remain vigilant.

Speaking in general terms, he said that efforts were being made to divide people on the basis of language, religion and caste, but asserted that his government would employ the "full police force" to nip them in the bud.
On the Ayodhya issue, Krishna said, "Forces are working overtime to exploit the situation and challenging time-tested convictions.”0
Referring to the situation on the power and water front, he said that it was going to get worse in the next two months, and asked police to be on the alert.
Home minister M Mallikarjuna Kharge said that the cabinet had given approval for building 5,000 houses for policemen and the construction work would begin in April.

According to Additional Chief Secretary and principal secretary (home), Adihip Choudhury, the government proposed to make wearing of helmets compulsory in view of the increase in number of accidents involving two-wheelers.
