Patna, Oct 01: Left Coordination Committee, comprising CPI and CPI-M, has called a state-wide bandh today as an offensive against the failure of Rabri Devi government. They have described the situation in Bihar as ‘alarming’.
CPI-M state committee secretary Ganesh Shanker Vidyarthi alleged that spate of murders and kidnappings in the recent past have proved beyond doubt that the state government has no control over anti-social elements and dons who had let loose a reign of terror in Bihar.
The dons and criminals operate even from within the confines of jails and direct their agents and shooters to do their job, he said charging that the anti-socials enjoyed intense political influence.
Vidyarthi alleged that the cars of the ministers were also used in several criminal incidents recently showing the complicity of the top brass in the ruling coalition.
Even the Director General of Police does not give the correct picture of the crime situation and makes hasty conclusion to keep his political bosses in good homour, the CPI-M leader alleged.
He said the news reports on award of contracts relating to construction of roads and laying of rails involving thousands of crores of rupees to the gangsters spoke volumes about the parallel power centres having been established by the underworld dons.
Vidyarthi said the situation warranted immediate intervention of the left and democratic forces to rid the society of lawlessness and criminals to save the state from ruin.
