Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Germany
Sunday for a meeting with Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder at the German leader's
home.
Putin was welcomed by Schroeder at the airport in the northern German city of
Hanover, where he was making a brief stop on his way back to Russia from a visit
to Greece.
Schroeder's office said he and Putin were expected to discuss the situation in
Afghanistan and the crisis in the Middle East.
The two leaders last met Nov. 2 when Schroeder stopped in Moscow on his return
from a visit to Pakistan, China and India. That was the fifth meeting this year
between Schroeder and Putin, who in September visited Germany.
