Police lodge case against 15 Jalpaiguri puja committees
Siliguri, Oct 05: Police has lodged cases against 15 clubs, warned five other clubs organising Durga Puja and arrested 25 persons in Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal on the charges of collecting subscriptions forcefully, the Superintendent of Police, Siddhnath Gupta said.

Gupta told newspersons that the police would think twice to accord permission to those 15 clubs in future.
Stating that the police was concerned about the increasing trend of forceful collection of subscriptions, the SP said a tea garden manager who was forced to donate rs.10,000 to a club was also beaten up seriously by the puja activists and ultimately rescued by the police.
