Moscow, Mar 27: The Russian military launched a test intercontinental ballistic missile today from its northwestern Plisetsk base, military officials said. The Topol rocket was fired at the eastern Komchatka peninsula, the usual target for most Russian intercontinental tests.
When contacted, a Russian military space agency official refused to say whether the test had been planned before or after the US-British military attacked Iraq.
Russia had fought bitterly against any such strikes and President Vladimir Putin has taken a tough stance against the war in recent days.
Analysts have interpreted Putin's comments to mean that there has been a rupture in Moscow's relations with Washington sparked by the war. Bureau Report
