Jaipur: Noted activist and Tony Award Winning Playwright Eve Ensler today said art and culture can transform human conscious specially of men to stop crime against women.

Ensler was addressing a press conference on the eve of her play to be held here tomorrow.


"We want woman to live with dignity, quality and freedom. Through a revolution we want a radical shifting of man's mindset and his consciousness. Art and culture has the power to do that," she said.


Now people through civic society and social media were coming in the forefront against crime against women, she added.


Patriarchal structures and mindsets were responsible for this war on women and girls, she said, adding in addition,"We now have modern, capitalist patriarchy, corporate media".


Author of famous play "The Vagina Monologues" (translated in 48 languages), it has been performed in over 140 countries,


"It is the woman who acts as mother, sister, friend, wife to a man but the man makes violence, beat her, rape her...Through art and culture, drama and song, we want to revolutionise the man's mindset and his consciousness", she said.
