Kumbakonam (TN): A week-long photo exhibition on Chola architecture began today at the ancient Airavadeeswarar Temple at Darasuram near here today on the occasion of World Heritage Day.

The Archaeological Department, which is in control of the 1000-year old Chola period temple, conducted the exhibition featuring photos of temples built during Chola dynasty.
The temple has been granted World Heritage staus by the UNESCO.


Built by the Chola king Rajaraja II (AD 1143-1173), this temple is a gem of Chola architecture.
