Mumbai, Apr 24: The men with golden voices, the legendary radio host Ameen Sayani and the superstar Amitabh Bacchan bagged the `Hall of Fame Award' and the `Radio Voice of The Year Award' respectively at radio Mirchi Kaan awards. The advertising wizard, Prasoon Joshi, bagged the radio writer of the year award while advertising agency Mc Cann Erickson won both the radio agency of the year award and the crystal award, at a function held here last night. The client of the year award was bagged by Dabur India limited while the excellence in sound design of the year went to Harshvardhan from Audiotrax, Banglore in the first ever award for radio advertising in the country.

The deep voice of the legendary radio host, Ameen Sayani, came alive again last evening as in his distinct style he recounted the birth of radio and traced its heady days of success, its undisputed sway over the masses and its slow decline with the emergence of television. Addressing the new fm generation of radio listeners, Sayani cautioned that some of the problems encountering the private radio network could push radio once again into the sideline if the government did not chalk out necessary plans to ensure its survival.
He warned that with music companies writing to radio stations to refrain from playing their music, a day would come when radio stations would have no music left to play anymore.
Stressing on the symbiotic relationship between music companies and radio stations, he said the shortsightness of music companies could result in low demand for their music.
